Technical Extraction and Refinement Roadmap

The manufacturing of soy lecithin at our China-based facilities is executed through advanced physical separation and continuous multi-stage purification technologies.

  • Hydration (Degumming): Raw soybean oil extracted from Non-GMO soybeans is hydrated with monitored demineralized water at controlled temperatures. This process selectively hydrates the highly polar phospholipids, making them insoluble in the oil phase.
  • Centrifugal Separation: High-speed industrial centrifuges isolate the wet lecithin sludge (gums) from the neutral oil phase, ensuring minimal neutral oil carryover and optimizing the acetone insoluble (AI) fraction.
  • Vacuum Drying: The separated gums are rapidly dried in thin-film evaporators under strict vacuum conditions. This step prevents thermal degradation and lipid peroxidation, ensuring stable peroxide values and neutral color.
  • Acetone Fractionation (De-oiling): To produce high-purity powder lecithin, liquid lecithin undergoes multi-stage extraction with food-grade acetone. This removes triglycerides, concentrating the active phospholipids to >95% acetone insolubles.
  • Enzymatic Modification: By employing specific phospholipases (such as PLA2), we hydrolyze a portion of the fatty acids at the sn-2 position, producing lysophospholipids.
